Nappy? Nappy?

Ok... so i was so tired last night that i wasn't able to blog.

We didn't have a particularly exciting day, it's hard to entertain children when you have no car and it's raining! After bathing Ethan i have tried to encourage the idea of pants instead of a nappy. So, i pop a pair of pants on and his trousers and offer lots of praise. He looks at me, throws a small tantrum, pulls his pants off and brings me a nappy saying, 'nappy! nappy!' Haha! Potty training is going to be FUN.

We had massive temper tantrums today and i don't know why! We have decided to pull any type of sweet food from his diet - he wakes in the morning and asks for 'cake' for breakfast! I had cut him an apple to eat along with crackers and cheese. He ate the crackers, binned the cheese behind my back and refused to eat the apple. I had him sit at the table and eat a slice of apple before any more crackers were served. Well, this is what i was greeted with;

Temper tantrum all the way. For 1 hour! Then, he suddenly ate the apple?! What the flip? I gave him LOTS of praise and it has just enforced the 'no sweet treat' rule.

I gave him a few more crackers as a reward and it was all smiles and happy faces again;

The rest of the day wasn't so exciting, not that temper tantrums are exciting. We played with trains and cooked some dinner ready for daddy to come home. It's proving difficult for me to get used to our new routines - Jared is dead on the sofa when he walks in the door and i don't feel too much better!

Tonight at Eldon and Esme's they are hosting a 'cheese and cracker' night. We had no babysitter so Ethan went to bed upstairs. It was a good night! I enjoyed nibbling and having some adult conversation - totally took it for granted growing up.

When we got in, Peter, Jared's father, called us. It was gone 11pm and had a feeling of what the call was about. His sister, Pearl, had past away from a 3 year battle with cancer. She was in a lot of pain and although she will be missed, she is free from pain.

I can't help but think how precious life is.
